Drones Sacrificed for Spectacular Volcano Video

Video technology and science converge on an active volcano in Vanuatu, where explorer Sam Cossman operated camera-mounted drones to capture high-definition images of the spectacular yet dangerous Marum Crater. Cossman and his team piloted the drones over the 7.5-mile-wide (12-kilometer) caldera while confronting toxic gases and boiling lava. Although two drones succumbed to the harsh environment, the team was able to bring back video and photos that will help scientists learn more about the volcano and the life around it.

WoW !!! Giant Coconut Crab : The Largest Land Crab In The World

At up to 1 m (3 ft) long, coconut crabs are not simply the largest land crabs. They are the largest arthropods, the group that includes insects, spiders and crustaceans, that live on land. The Japanese spider crab is bigger, but it has the advantage of living underwater where its weight is supported.

Green Lake in Austria, The natural phenomenon

At first glimpse, this photograph seem to show a scuba diver exploring the depths of an underwater world.

But if you watch the full video video, you will see a tree, a bridge and even a park bench.

In fact these incredible images show a diver traversing an Austrian lake that floods every year, covering everything in the surrounding area.

For most of the year, visitors to the beauty spot can leisurely stroll around the picturesque lagoon, enjoying the stunning landscape from one of the benches set near the water's edge.

Fisherman found giant 34 kg pearl worth $100 million

A record-breaking giant pearl, reportedly 1ft wide and 2.2 ft in length, has gone on display 10 years after it was first discovered off the coast of Palawan Island, Philippines in 2006.

The £100m find, which experts believe could be the biggest natural giant clam pearl in the world, will be unveiled to the public, it was announced on Monday.

The enormous pearl was found by fisherman who cast down his anchor and it got wedged on a rock during a storm, said Tourism officer Aileen Cynthia Amurao. The find is thought to be five times larger than the previous record set by the Pearl of Allah, which was also found near Palawan Island in 1939.

"He noticed that it was lodged on a shell and swam down to pull up the anchor, and also brought the shell with him. This was a decade ago and he kept it at home.

"He didn't know how much it was worth and kept it tucked away at home as a simple good luck charm.

"We were amazed when he brought it to us. We now need help from gemologists to fully certify it. We're waiting for authentication from Gemologist Institute and other international authorities.

Giant clams can reach over four feet in length and very rarely produce pearls, making this discovery extremely rare.

Japan - View from Above

Japan is the furthest point in what was called the ‘Far East’ by Imperial Europe, and is perhaps the most categorical in that respect. It may come as a culture-shock for some; the deep, in-grown, ancient traditions, taboos, customs and norms of the Japanese people. But those same customs and norms, so obsessed with perfection, are incredibly beautiful, complementing the natural beauty of the Japanese landscape. Travel with View from Above to Tokyo’s metropolitan skyline, Kyoto’s shrines and temples, Fuji’s iconic cliffs, and the elegant pagodas and toris of the Japanese countryside. Captured by DJI unmanned recreational drones, enjoy some unique and incredible shots of this amazing country.

Norway- View from Above

Norway is most well-known historically as being the home of the Vikings. As Germanic tribes migrated north into Scandinavia during the early Roman reign they settled in modern-day Norway where their language and culture evolved. A clan-based society of warriors was formed, bent on expansion, who traversed the northern seas to pillage coastal villages all across Europe and the British Isles. Norway then begun its journey into feudalism and a lineage of kings dominated Norwegian history until 1905 when Norway became an independent nation, splitting from the Norwegian-Swedish conglomerate. Norway’s people, although affected by the widespread chaos of World War II, have largely retained their cultural and historical identity while embracing modernism.

Maldives -View from Above, Awesome!

The Maldives is unlike any other island state. The islands are a collection of atolls, or submarine volcanic ridges, that only just break sea-level. This means that the islands, at their highest points, are just 2m above sea-level, and because they are not volcanically active, they are shrinking in size. Unfortunately, the Maldives are unlikely to be around for very long. Due to the extreme circumstances of global warming, the rise of sea levels means that by the year 2100 the Maldives will be all but blanketed by the blue Indian Ocean waters.

The Awesome Batanes, Basco, Batan, Philippines

Batanes is the smallest province in the Philippines. It is composed of 10 islands and islets (some locals say it’s actually 11 islands), only three of which are inhabited: Batan (where Basco the capital is located), Sabtang, and Itbayat. Locals bring their cow to pasture in some of the islands; others, especially those which are mountainous, remain empty even of cattle. Credit to the owner of this awesome video.

Rio de Janeiro

Rio was originally inhabited by the indigenous Tupi people before Portuguese colonialists landed on Guanabara Bay (the natural harbour that Rio de Janeiro surrounds). The bay was home to pirates, Portuguese royalty and African slaves as well as the Tupi locals before Portugal moved its capital to Rio following Napoleon’s romp in Europe. Rio then served as Brazil’s capital until 1960 when it was moved to Brasilia, and the city has since been the home to a few of the 2014 FIFA World Cup matches, and will host the 2016 Olympic Games:

Germany is Awesome

Germany’s history is as old as the mountains. A long past of dominant Germanic tribes existing in the areas between the river Rhine and modern day Berlin would occasionally burst forth and conquer lands both east, west and south of their borders. After warring with the Romans for many decades, the people of Germany were able to muster around the flags of the strongest tribes; the Franks and the Saxons as well as a few others. As the Franks grew in power, they annexed many other nations into what was labelled the Holy Roman Empire by its founder, Charlemagne. The Empire became a nation divided into principalities ruled by many German princes, and over the next few hundred years they guided much of Europe’s religious, scientific and philosophic development. After unification into a German Empire, Germany experienced a small revolution before the institution of the Weimar Republic. Suffering from the effects of two World Wars, and a separation of the state into two entities during the Cold War, Germany has come out of its reincarnation as the world’s 4th strongest economy, and a world leader with a very bright future.

Skydiver makes history by jumping 25,000 feet into a net without a parachute

A daredevil Luke Aikins has jumped from a plane 25,000 feet into a giant net, becoming the first person in the world to complete a skydive without a parachute. The 42-year-old was not wearing a wing suit or emergency parachute for the jump, which was broadcast live on television.
Luke Aikins was in free fall for around two minutes after jumping from a small propeller plane above Simi Valley, California on Saturday.

He give thanks to crew members who spent two years helping him prepare for the jump, including those who made the net and made sure it worked.

While Mr Aikins has made over 18,000 skydives, he admitted being nervous before his latest feat.

During his fall, Mr Aikins was accompanied by three other skydivers, who did have parachutes.

One gathered an oxygen mask Mr Aikins discarded at around 10,000 feet. Another was wearing a smoke canister to make the jumpers visible to those on the ground, while the third person was filming.
