The budgerigar, also known as common pet parakeet or shell parakeet and informally nicknamed the budgie, is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot.
Budgerigars search for food and water in the outback of Australia. They fly in small flocks which gradually join other flocks of budgies, allowing their numbers to increase to super swarms of millions of budgerigars.
This is the first time to record the largest flock of budgerigars ever seen in far-western Queensland, Australia.
