Manila, Philippines (August 31, 2012) – An earthquake measuring 7.9 on Richter scale hit the island nation on Friday evening, causing Tsunami alerts in various countries.
According to television reports, Tsunami alerts have been issued in Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, and Belau while extensive Tsunami threats have been issued in Taiwan, Guam and Papua New Guinea.
As per the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was 20 miles deep, off the coast of Philippines.
